SALTY Magazine uses an array of media to draw attention to truth, beauty, and justice issues in our culture. The publication serves up a raw collection of art, articles and photography to proclaim the Good News. As salt, we challenge our generation to be agents of change that preserve purity and truth in a decaying world.
If you feel you have an article or other submission that challenges or redefines what it means to be young and submitted to Christ, email it to editor@saltymagazine.com. We prioritize passion over experience, so no journalism qualifications are necessary. There is no monetary compensation but writers retain the copyright to any submissions, unless otherwise agreed upon.
Please review the guidelines below before contacting us:
1 – use simple language that would be used while conversing with a young intelligent friend but new babe in Christ; minimize church lingo and do not assume that everyone grew up reading the Bible.
2 – avoid watered down Good News; relay anything about the Kingdom as invaluable and important, yet grave and challenging.
3 – remain transparent and vulnerable in language, our culture hates the pious stuff.
4 – do include personal experience and flaws where applicable, but have more text glorifying Christ than sin or self.
5 – make your main point clear and be sure to communicate answers to the following 3 questions:
.what does it all mean
.how do we respond
.why can we not afford to get this subject wrong
6 – utilize a witty writing style and unique titling to give your story character and personality (we reserve the right to publish under a different title).
7 – Pray before writing anything, invite Holy Spirit to infiltrate your thoughts as necessary.
SALTY Magazine is published every 3 months, and will finalize content a month in advance. Submissions will be used in issues that best fit the theme of your message. Submissions may not be over 1000 words.
